Rod Ward - Employment Support Service & Job Coaching

My name’s Rod.  I have worked for the Council for over 30 years, in Adult Social Care and Contracts and Procurement, joining Enable in 2022.  I had heard from a few ex-colleagues how good it was to work at here, but continue to be really impressed by the supportive atmosphere and the positive attitudes of managers and colleagues at Enable.

My rather long job title is Senior Employment Support Coordinator.  The role involves overseeing the job coach team who support people in actual jobs or work experience placements.  Our clients are usually young people referred from our Disability Team, coming straight from college and needing to build up confidence and independence to work, although we support people of a variety of ages. We also provide travel training.

I also oversee the small team of Experts by Experience with a Learning Disability/Autism.

I live in Shrewsbury and spend a lot of time out walking locally, or further afield in the drier months. When not walking I’ve often got my head in a book.
