Client Success Story: Luke

Supported Internships

Luke began his supported internship in 2016 at The Theatre Severn. He was unsure about his career aspirations and said he was interested in both travel and tourism or web design. His Enable Employment Officer, Tracey, arranged a placement at Theatre Severn, as well as at a design studio so he could get an insight into the different sorts of work they had available. Luke thoroughly enjoyed his placement at The Theatre Severn and gained a lot of experience in customer service and the theatre’s booking system. He did not enjoy the design placement so it was agreed he would focus on the theatre.

Unfortunately, the theatre was not in a position to offer Luke a paid job at the end of his internship but Luke felt the placement had benefited him as it had helped to improve his confidence and skills set and also gave him a better idea of what he wanted to do in the future.

Enable arranged a work experience placement as a retail assistant at Edinburgh Woollen Mill and after completing the placement, Luke was offered a paid apprenticeship role. Luke has now been in this job for over six months and is making excellent progress. He is now completely confident with using the till, delivering good customer service, stock control and is seen as an extremely productive member of the team.

His manager is very impressed with how he manages himself in the store and said that he is a valued employee.
