Client Success Story: Zach

Supported Internships

Zach started his Supported Internship in September 2017. He completed a course in Construction Level 1 the previous year but was unsure about his next steps towards employment. Enable Employment Officers and Shrewsbury College Tutors discussed the possibility of a Supported Internship with Zach and he was keen to progress with this.

Zach suggested a placement in a care home as his father worked in one, meaning that Zach had gained some knowledge about what the work would involve. Enable managed to secure an Internship at Sabrina Residential Care Home where he works alongside the domestic team. He has been involved in feeding the residents and helping set up and clear the tables. He is very popular with residents due to his caring nature. Zach will have the opportunity to train as a Health Care Assistant if he would like to gain more experience and will have a Job Coach to support him to learn the new tasks and to prioritise his workload.

Enable Employment Officers will be working with employers to secure paid work for Zach at the end of his Internship.
