Kieran’s Supported Internship Journey

Kieran is on a Supported Internship with County Training and Enable with a work placement at Shropshire Council.

In these challenging times of lockdown, Kieran has shown determination and positivity when faced with difficulties in finding a suitable administrative placement. So, it has been fabulous that he has so successfully adapted to remote working from home, with some remote Job Coaching support provided by Enable.

Shropshire Council’s Right Home Right Place Team sits within Planning Policy and have welcomed Kieran into their team. They are delighted that he is assisting with the data input of housing surveys. He has progressed to doing some data analysis of empty properties and potential site development, sending and receiving emails, as well as other administrative tasks. Meetings on Teams are important, especially while remote working and Kieran has effectively participated in these as well.

Kieran has been enjoying the work and really appreciates being included as part of the team. He is more confident in his abilities, becoming more vocal and participating in more group settings. He takes a keen interest and is realising his own talents and potential.

Additionally, Kieran has just been awarded Student of the Year by his college!

Well done, Kieran! This is a great step towards a bright future.
