Steven’s Story

Steven was referred to Enable in 2015 after being made redundant from a long term position with the local council.

Since being with Enable, he has been supported into a number of different roles. He worked as a Cleaner for Midland Metro Alliance, he has done leaflet delivery for Pure Gym and his last position, a Hall Attendant/Cleaner for the NEC in Birmingham which he done for 4 years sadly came to an end due to the pandemic.

Steven has a really strong work ethic and was determined to find a new job. His BDO, Jen Kenyon, worked closely with Steven discussing new opportunities when they came across a position at Wolverhampton University.  Jen completed the application for Steven and discussed interview techniques. Steven was called in for an interview which was successful.

‘I am enjoying my placement at the University. The job is challenging, but I feel satisfied when I have got it all done.

I am helping to keep the students and staff safe. The work  hours are good for me and I am getting to work on time.

Everyone here is nice to me.’

The employer was happy for a Job Coach to support Steven in his new role and Steven is very happy and enjoying being back in employment.

‘Steven is eager to complete all task set for him, he is conscientious in his work and always tries his best.

Steven understands the reason for his role of touchpoint cleaning and the importance of it, and he interacts well with his co-workers which is building his confidence.’
