Walking to ‘Hel’ and back for our veterans – Two Days to go!

On 13 May our supported employment service, Enable, will be taking part in the Cumbrian Challenge. The challenge is Walking with the Wounded’s flagship annual fundraising event, taking place in the Lake District. To celebrate the fifth year of the event, participants will head for ‘Hel’ and back, summiting Helvellyn, high above Grasmere with stunning views all around the Lake District from its peak at 950m.

Enable’s team of four staff members will make the 23km journey which involves 1,500m of ascent including the peaks of Helvellyn, Fairfield and Great Rigg.

Enable works closely with the national veteran’s charity in the Shropshire, Telford and South Staffordshire area to offer support to vulnerable veterans looking for paid employment. The service is designed to support a wide range of veterans, including those with mental health needs and/or disabilities.

Each team has been given the challenge of raising £1,000 in advance of the event. Money raised will support veterans with mental, physical or social injuries through the charity’s programmes and back into independence and employment.
