Client Success Story: Phil

Phil has been a client of Wolverhampton’s Disability Employment Team since being referred in July 2017. He has since been supported by Business Development Officers into casual and temporary paid positions as a Kitchen Porter at the local football ground, a Cleaner at a local manufacturing company, and as a Cleaner at a residential support service for adults with disabilities. These jobs have enabled Phil to gain a great range of experiences, excellent references, an attractive CV, customer service skills, as well as improved his communication skills.

Man waxing floorPhil’s ultimate career goal was to work at a school. While job searching with Jen, his Business Development Officer, they noticed a cleaning position within a local secondary school. They did the online application together and Phil was selected for an interview which turned out to be successful!  He handed his notice in to his previous employer and is now working part time in his dream job. He is receiving Job Coach support from Barrie who is helping Phil to learn his new role.

Barrie says “Phil has thrown himself into the role 100% and has taken on board all the advice I have given him. The role is demanding and high standards are expected, Phil is working hard to meet the expectations

Jen added “I am extremely pleased that Phil has managed to secure his dream job and I’m sure that he will be a great asset to the school”

Phil has continued to work through the Coronavirus Pandemic as a Priority Key Worker. He is a dedicated young man and we wish him a bright future.
