Georgia’s Success Story

Georgia was on a Supported Internship with County Training and Enable with a work placement at Kemberton Stables, near Shifnal.

Georgia loves horses and was keen on completing her work experience in this area. She was able to use her existing skills and knowledge at the stables and learn new skills to prepare her for future employment. The placement gave Georgia the opportunity to work with others, improve her confidence and expand her knowledge in an area she is passionate about.

Georgia worked hard and got stuck in carrying out the day-to-day tasks to take care of the horses. She mucked out the stables, ensuring the water troughs were full and collected the food for replenishment. She quickly got to know each horse and its habits and gained confidence talking to the various horse owners.

Towards the end of her time, Georgia was able to work independently and use her own initiative, knowing what tasks needed to be done. The experience has given Georgia some valuable skills to use going forward with both animals and members of the public. It has increased her confidence to progress further and potentially work in a larger stable to continue in her journey and gain more experience in riding.
